Open May-September You can’t step into a time machine and travel back to 1831 when Dr. Havilah Beardsley bought the land that later became Elkhart. But you can tour his 1848 home and learn how this enterprising physician brought mills and railroads to the City and an entrepreneurial spirit that remains to this day. Guided tours share Dr. Beardsley’s story, your imagination can follow him negotiating land prices with Indian chiefs or visiting patients at midnight on horseback.
